Speech Therapy Resumed

This entry is from Linc's dad Sam.

Lincoln's speech therapist was back today after a two week hiatus. Kim was just as puzzled about Linc's ability to eat goldfish in public as we all are. We practiced some vocalizations and signs and quickly jumped into eating.

Linc ate an entire kiwi (that's another first) and signed for more. So Kim suggested an experiment. We broke off 1/4 of a graham cracker and poured a handfull of goldfish onto his tray. Then we asked him which he wanted. Predictably, he snaggged the sweet graham cracker. We watched as he raised it to his own open mouth and took a tiny little bite.

Now, nothing is more adorable than a Lincoln smile, unless maybe you cover his rabbity two front teeth with crumbled graham cracker. This kid is cute enough to melt all the glaciers and icebergs that global warming hasn't quite gotten to yet.

Our little man proceeded to feed himself the rest of the cracker while Nico, Kim and I cheered him on. We had to help him a bit (his tongue kept pushing some of his food forward and out rather than back and in).

Then he picked up the goldfish. We watched with rapt anticipation to see if he could repeat the miracle and feed himself. He raised the goldfish over his head... and threw it on the floor for the dog, Virginia. I swear he winked at me in the moment before he did it, too.

Little Monster!

I don't know what it is about Sunday School, but he will not eat these goldfish outside the confines of that room! Maybe someday he can tell us why, but for now it remains a mystery locked behind that crumb-covered smile.
